How a private Los Angeles OG Kush cut traveled with Snoop Dogg, survived through a network of growers and eventually returned to its original cannabis circle.
Before RBK Had a Name
The story of Ricky's Brother's Kush, commonly shortened to RBK, begins with an early Los Angeles OG Kush cutting.
Around 2000, the plant was known simply as 98 Kush.
The cutting came through the brother of Ricky Palomino, associated with Ricky's California Originals.
It was not originally created as a seed-company release or public strain brand.
The clone was part of a private Los Angeles cannabis network.

The Snoop Dogg Connection
At the time, Ricky was working as Snoop Dogg's road manager.
Part of his responsibility was keeping Snoop supplied with cannabis while touring.
According to Ricky's account, the OG Kush cutting quickly became a favorite.
Snoop reportedly smoked substantial quantities and regularly shared flower with people around him.
The demand meant that consistent access to the plant became important.
Long before RBK had a recognizable public identity, it had developed a reputation within the touring circle.

Why Was the Cut Kept Private?
Ricky's brother had reportedly instructed him not to give away the cutting or sell it within Los Angeles.
The plant was intended to remain within a trusted group.
That restriction made RBK different from OG Kush selections that circulated more widely through commercial growers.
But maintaining enough flower for touring required a practical solution.
The cutting had to be preserved and grown outside the original location.
How Adam Dunn Helped Preserve RBK
The clone eventually reached Adam Dunn, who helped arrange cultivation at different locations around the country.
The goal was to maintain a reliable supply of the same flower while Snoop toured.
Growers associated with that preservation history included AJ Sour Diesel and Sage Masta.
Their involvement helped keep the cutting alive after many of its earlier holders reportedly lost access to it.
Without that network, the plant might have disappeared from the original circle entirely.

Who Named Ricky's Brother's Kush?
When Adam Dunn first asked what the plant was called, it was reportedly identified simply as Kush.
He then asked where it had come from.
The answer was Ricky's brother.
Dunn began referring to it as Ricky's Brother's Kush, giving the clone the name that eventually became RBK.
The name was an informal description of its chain of custody rather than a planned branding exercise.
Tracing the Cut Back to Redline
Later accounts connected the original clone to Matt of Redline Reserve, who reportedly supplied Ricky's brother.
That detail places RBK within an early Los Angeles OG Kush network.
The story also intersects with Wonderbrett, although the connection described in this account developed later through the clone's return.
Keeping those relationships in the correct order matters.
They identify different stages in the plant's history rather than establishing that everyone involved originally received it from the same person.
2017: RBK Comes Home
By 2017, Ricky had reportedly confirmed that nobody within the earlier circle still held the cutting.
The preserved clone was then returned to Wonderbrett, The Real OG Kush Story and Killdrama.
Ricky had previously known Kenji, but the process of returning the cut introduced him to Josh D and Brett.
The reunion reconnected the plant with people associated with the early Los Angeles OG Kush scene.
It also helped establish a clearer preservation story for a cut that had spent years moving through private cultivation networks.
From Road Kush to Public Identity
The idea of turning RBK into a more recognizable brand developed later.
Adam Dunn and AJ Sour Diesel were associated with those post-2017 discussions.
For much of its history, the plant had existed simply to provide quality flower for a private touring network.
Its public identity emerged only after the preservation history became part of the story.

The Snoop Dogg OG Confusion
RBK's association with Snoop Dogg also led to confusion with other cannabis varieties carrying Snoop-related names.
The name Snoop Dogg OG became associated with separate claims and strain histories.
Those connections should not automatically be treated as evidence that the plants are genetically identical.
RBK's account depends on its specific chain of custody, from Ricky's brother through the growers who preserved it.

Legacy
RBK represents a part of OG Kush history where preservation mattered more than publicity.
The cutting began as a private Los Angeles Kush, traveled through Snoop Dogg's touring network and survived through Adam Dunn and other trusted growers.
In 2017, the preserved plant returned to people associated with its earlier cannabis circle.
Its significance is not based on having the most famous strain name or the largest commercial release.
Ricky's Brother's Kush survived because people continued holding the clone long enough for it to reconnect with its original history.
