Florida Cradle: The Birth of Triangle Kush & OG Kush

According to a firsthand Florida origin account, Triangle Kush and OG Kush trace back to the same accidental seed event in a Boca Raton grow in 1991.

The Boca Raton House

In 1991, a grow house in Boca Raton, Florida reportedly became the starting point for 2 cannabis lines that would later become known as Triangle Kush and OG Kush.

The house was co-run by Marty, who managed the location under a 40/60 arrangement with the owner.

According to Marty’s account, an accidental pollination inside that garden created the seed stock behind both plants.

The Accidental Pollination

Marty had been working through seed packs he brought back from Amsterdam.

He says Hindu Kush plants hermed and pollinated a room of Emerald Triangle, creating a small batch of seeds.

The event was unplanned, but 2 of those seeds would later take very different paths through Florida cannabis.

A Larger Florida Network

The Boca house was only one part of a much larger cultivation network.

According to Marty, his partner and their circle operated dozens of houses, commonly running 15 to 18 lights per location, with some setups using flip boxes to increase production.

Many reportedly relied on illegal power hookups.

The scale meant large amounts of flower were moving through Florida long before either Triangle Kush or OG Kush became famous names.

Two Seeds, Two Keepers

According to the account, 2 important seeds from the Boca harvest were eventually found inside pounds distributed through Captain Kirk.

One was discovered by Alec Anderson.

The other was found by a tattoo artist named Dax.

Those 2 seeds became the foundation of 2 separate keeper lines.

Dax & The Triangle

Dax’s seed became the plant later associated with The Triangle.

According to the account connected to Swamp Boys Seeds and Cornbread Ricky, cuts were eventually passed to Captain Kirk and Marty.

The plant was originally known simply as The Triangle. The fuller name Triangle Kush came later.

Alec & OG Kush

Alec Anderson’s seed reportedly became the plant later known as OG Kush.

Unlike The Triangle, Alec kept his selection much more private, and few people in the wider circle initially knew the plant existed.

The connection between Alec’s keeper and the later OG Kush story would not become clear to Marty and Captain Kirk until decades later.

How the Florida Flower Moved

Much of the Boca harvest Marty handled reportedly traveled north into Central Florida, where Captain Kirk redistributed it.

According to this origin story, that distribution network is how seeds connected to both future keepers circulated before either plant had achieved fame.

The strains did not begin as branded products. They emerged from flower moving through a larger Florida network.

1996: OG Moves West

In 1996, Matt “Bubba” Berger reportedly carried the OG plant and clones to Los Angeles, where the cut entered the circle around Josh D.

From there, people including Kenji, Redline Reserve, OrgnKid, Cali Connection, Wick Eden and others helped spread OG and related Kush genetics through California.

The Florida keeper eventually became one of the most influential clone lines in modern cannabis.

The Late Alec Connection

According to Marty and Captain Kirk, they did not fully understand Alec’s connection to OG Kush until roughly 5 to 6 years before this account was recorded.

They say details were eventually confirmed directly with Alec.

That makes the OG portion of the story a later reconstruction based on firsthand testimony rather than a continuously documented chain from 1991 onward.

The Story Goes Public

The account was later discussed publicly on The Adam Dunn Show during the “Florida Krippy” episode.

The conversation was coordinated with people including Miami Mango and Captain Kirk, while Alec also appeared and confirmed his version of events on air.

That podcast helped bring a previously private Florida origin story into the public record.

Legacy

According to the people involved, Triangle Kush and OG Kush trace back to the same accidental 1991 Boca Raton seed event, but followed separate paths afterward.

Dax’s keeper became The Triangle. Alec’s keeper became associated with OG Kush. One remained rooted in Florida while the other traveled west and exploded through Los Angeles.

The complete chain remains based heavily on firsthand testimony rather than contemporary documentation, but the story presents a striking possibility: 2 of modern cannabis’s most influential Kush lines may have begun in the same Florida room, from the same accidental pollination, only to become legends on opposite paths.
