Heat Curve Chronicles: Hashmasta Kut

Before “dabbing” became standard language, Hashmasta Kut and his sister GGirl helped turn oil vaporization into dedicated glass hardware, creating an early bridge between hot knives and the modern dab rig.

The Blueprint of a Dab Revolution

Jacob Carson, known as Hashmasta Kut or HMK, says he developed the titanium curve around 2003.

The setup used a titanium pad mounted on a swinging arm beneath a glass intake. The user heated the pad, swung it beneath the curve and inhaled the vapor through the glass.

The exact 2003 origin date comes from HMK’s later firsthand account, but surviving forum evidence shows the design was already established by early 2006.

A Brother-and-Sister Build

According to HMK, he conceived the original setup and handled the titanium metalwork.

His sister, Lucy Carson, known as GGirl, made the glass curves. The 2 later collaborated on the design and function of the system.

By the time the design appeared publicly on forums, other users were already copying the concept and joining HMK’s waiting list.

Proof on the Forums

Surviving 2006 ICMag posts show users building oil vaporizers while explicitly saying they were following “the design of HMK.”

In those discussions, HMK also talked about new titanium pads, ground-glass curves and glass made by his sister to his specifications.

Later accounts point back to an earlier TokeCity HMK/GGirl appreciation thread, while the story continued circulating through cannabis communities such as THC Farmer.

Together, those records create a clear public trail for the design by 2006.

From Forums to Commercial Hardware

By 2009, Labworx in Los Angeles was producing a commercial version known as the Skillet Vapor Curve.

Aqua Lab Technologies publicly credited HMK as the originator of the titanium curve.

Around the same period, Modern Medical, founded by Top Shelf Extracts, developed the Vapor Swing, helping move the same basic concept deeper into the growing concentrate market.

The Bridge to the Modern Dab Rig

HMK’s curve took the basic logic of hot knives and turned it into dedicated glass hardware.

Instead of manually trapping vapor between heated surfaces, the system placed a heated titanium surface beneath a directed glass vapor path.

That design helped bridge early oil-smoking methods with the dome-and-nail, domeless titanium and quartz rig era that followed.

Still Building

HMK continued making functional glass after the original curve era, including later pieces inspired by the same design.

Aqua Lab Technologies listings have continued to credit him with inventing the titanium curve, reinforcing his place in concentrate hardware history.

Legacy

The exact 2003 birth date of the titanium curve remains a firsthand claim from HMK, but the public record clearly documents the design by 2006.

By then, users were copying it, discussing HMK’s titanium pads and waiting for glass made through the HMK and GGirl collaboration.

Before modern dab rigs became standardized, Hashmasta Kut and Lucy “GGirl” Carson helped turn cannabis oil vaporization into a repeatable piece of functional glass culture.
