Before Thailand's cannabis market changed, William and Nate Shanti were already imagining a different kind of cannabis space. In 2021, @wwtwilliam and @nate_shanti met in Bangkok, connected through their shared interest in concentrates, pressing rosin while imagining a West Coast-style solventless lounge. Their discussions began before the country's cannabis laws changed.
2021: Bangkok's Pre-Legalization Dab Scene
The partnership brought together two different backgrounds: William (@wwtwilliam), a legacy hashmaker with experience in traditional resin craftsmanship; and Nate Shanti (@nate_shanti), a scientist and event builder with an interest in developing solventless culture. Together, they wanted to combine craftsmanship, compliance and cannabis culture into a boutique solventless hub.
Nate Shanti: Biomedical Science Meets Hashmaking
Nate brought a scientific foundation to the partnership. According to the original account, he holds a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Birmingham. His laboratory-oriented mindset helped shape the identity of @shanti_bkk. The business's solventless-first philosophy reflected his scientific background, while William brought resin craftsmanship. The two approaches complemented each other: one grounded in resin craftsmanship, the other in science.
Shanti: Sanskrit for Peace
The name Shanti comes from Sanskrit and means: Peace. The original account describes the business as a connoisseur-first space built around: house-cured flower; single-source rosin; rotating glass pop-ups. The founders wanted the environment to reflect the meaning behind the name. Rather than operating like a conventional retail dispensary, Shanti developed around product selection, education and community.
2022: Opening on Sukhumvit 23
Following Thailand's cannabis decriminalization, @shanti_bkk opened on Sukhumvit 23 in Bangkok in 2022. The original account describes the location as offering: a calm atmosphere; late-night hours; English-speaking budtenders; curated flower jars; clean solventless melts; rotating glass pop-ups. The English-speaking budtenders helped make the space accessible to international visitors, while the rotating glass pop-ups connected the location with the wider glass-art community.
The Menu: Flower, Cold-Cure and Live Rosin
Solventless products were central to Shanti's identity. The original account identifies cold-cure, six-star and live rosin as defining categories. Its named menu selections included: Grape Gelato; Lemon Popperz; Cherry Blossom; Matcha Melt; Freeze Dried ZKZ; Ice Drop Rosin. These selections reflected the dispensary's emphasis on curated flower and solventless products. William helped shape the flavor direction, while Nate amplified the story and community through Friends of Hash (@friendsofhash).
Elbo x Shanti: The Elboha Collaboration
Shanti's relationship with glass culture extended into collaborations. One specifically named project was: Elbo x Shanti: Elboha. The collaboration connected Shanti with glass artist Elbo. It reflected the dispensary's interest in bringing glass art into its identity through rotating pop-ups, placing glass at the center of the cannabis experience rather than treating it as a separate accessory.
Hash Out: Private Sessions With Friends of Hash
Shanti and Friends of Hash (@friendsofhash) developed a private event series called: Hash Out. The original account describes it as an RSVP-only sesh combining: solventless education; cannabis culture; community. The events were private gatherings rather than conventional public promotions. According to the caption, Hash Out #1 and Hash Out #2 had already been held. The series created an opportunity for participants to engage with hashmaking and solventless culture, and gave Shanti and Friends of Hash a platform for sharing knowledge and bringing people together.
International Connections: Barcelona, Japan and the United States
Although Shanti remained rooted in Thailand, its relationships extended internationally. The original account specifically identifies: @theegoclash, Barcelona; Rainbow Melts, Japan; Fidelytings, United States. The Ego Clash connection linked Shanti to Barcelona's solventless community. Rainbow Melts represented a Japanese collaboration, while Fidelytings connected the operation with the United States. The caption describes the dispensary's jars as moving internationally while remaining rooted in Thailand.
Legacy: A Thai Solventless Hub
Shanti began with William and Nate meeting in Bangkok's pre-legalization dab scene in 2021. Nate's Biomedical Sciences degree from the University of Birmingham complemented William's legacy hashmaking experience. The dispensary opened on Sukhumvit 23 in 2022, offering late-night hours, English-speaking budtenders, curated jars, clean solventless melts and rotating glass pop-ups. Its named selections included Grape Gelato, Lemon Popperz, Cherry Blossom, Matcha Melt, Freeze Dried ZKZ and Ice Drop Rosin. The Elbo x Shanti Elboha collaboration brought glass artist Elbo into the project, while the private RSVP-only Hash Out series, with Hash Out #1 and #2 already held, built community through Friends of Hash. International relationships with The Ego Clash in Barcelona, Rainbow Melts in Japan and Fidelytings in the United States completed the picture. The original account presents Shanti as a Thai solventless destination where peace, education, glass culture and international connection meet. That picture belongs to Thailand's open retail era: on June 26, 2025 — one day before this post appeared — Thailand returned cannabis flower to controlled-herb status, and licensed shops may now sell only against a prescription, so the lounge model described here no longer operates as written. No opened source reports whether Shanti itself is open today.

An independent Bangkok dispensary guide that lists Shanti Dispensary BKK at number 15 and places it on Sukhumvit Soi 23, describing an upscale, fashion-store-like shop carrying more than 30 flower strains plus accessories and CBD products. It confirms the shop's existence and location but says nothing about solventless concentrates, the founders, an opening year, or any events — its Shanti is a premium flower shop, not a documented hash destination.

This events index carries the Ego Clash Cup Invitational BCN 2025 and describes Ego Clash as an invitation-only Barcelona competition devoted to solventless hash and rosin. It verifies that the Ego Clash named in the post is a real Barcelona solventless institution, but it contains no mention of Shanti, so the claimed connection between the two remains uncorroborated.

A law-firm analysis of the Ministry of Public Health's Notification on Controlled Herbs (Cannabis) 2025, issued June 26, 2025, which returned cannabis flower to controlled-herb status: licensed shops may now sell only against a prescription on the official PT 33 form from a recognized practitioner, all flower must come from GACP-certified cultivation, and the analysis expects many dispensaries to convert into cannabis clinics. This is the legal backdrop the published article needs, because the post was written about the open retail era that ended the same month it appeared.
