GARAGE BEGINNINGS (2014–2015)
Glob Mops began in a Huntington Beach garage with founder Danny, better known as Buitech. A SoCal dabber and car enthusiast, he grew frustrated with Q-tips falling apart against hot quartz. Experimenting with shaved wooden sticks and tightly wrapped cotton, he created a sharper, cleaner tool. That first homemade swab became the prototype for what the sesh scene now knows as the Glob Mop.
PROTOTYPE TO PRODUCT
The initial runs solved a problem every dabber faced: lint, mess, and wasted quartz. Early adopters praised the dual-tip design—one pointed end for tight corners and one rounded for broad swipes. Buitech launched Glob Mops through Instagram, hand-packing jars and shipping them out himself. The design quickly became a staple in the community.
OFFICIAL LAUNCH
With rising demand, Buitech formed Glob Mops LLC in California. The XL 2.0 dropped soon after, featuring denser cotton, bamboo cores, and sharper tips. Against standard Q-tips, the XL line proved sturdier, cleaner, and more effective—cementing its spot as the industry’s go-to cleaning tool.
BUILT ON COMMUNITY
Glob Mops rose on word of mouth, memes, and giveaways. From CHAMPS trade shows to live-streamed glass drops, the swabs became a cultural marker. Buitech’s direct communication with followers gave the brand personality, making it both a product and a voice in the scene.
ALWAYS ITERATING
Travel Packs hit first, offering 30 swabs in compact cases for on-the-go use. Then came XL Bendables with flexible paper sticks to reach tight corners. In 2022, a collaboration with JP Toro Glass birthed the Slurper Mop, designed specifically for slurper nails and puddle management. Each step was tailored to evolving dabbing practices.
BEYOND SWABS
Glob Mops expanded into a full product ecosystem: Mop Water (99% isopropyl alcohol), Mop Buckets, and Sesh Ready Kits made cleanup easier and more complete. What started as a swab brand became a session-maintenance system, reaching from boutique headshops to Walmart and Amazon shelves.
ECO-MINDED DESIGN
Recognizing shifting consumer values, Glob Mops transitioned from plastic sticks to bamboo, winning over eco-conscious users. The brand marketed not just clean rigs, but a cleaner footprint, aligning sustainability with sesh culture.
CULTURE CONTRIBUTOR
Glob Mops has been deeply embedded in cannabis culture. From sponsoring major events like Melting of the Heads and Zalympix to collaborations with brands such as The Real Hash House and Wizard Trees, the company solidified itself as a supporter of the community, not just a supplier of tools.
TODAY AND BEYOND
Still headquartered in Huntington Beach, Buitech runs a dedicated crew. With over 2,000 smoke shops carrying Glob Mops, the brand has evolved from a garage project to a global name. From solving a simple cleaning issue to shaping dab culture, Glob Mops has proven that even the smallest tools can redefine the game.
